Baron Frederick Von Schleinitz came from Europe in the late
1940?s and bought property in Teller County. He owned and developed Trout Haven
Resort and the subdivision east and west of the Resort. The Baron actually had
the lakes built starting in the early 1950?s. At that time he also owned the
Trout Haven Restaurant and motel on the SW corner in Divide. You could catch
your fresh trout at Trout Haven and they would cook it at the restaurant. The
Baron developed the subdivisions letting owners become Trout Haven members. At
one time in the 1960?s there were over 500 club members. In the 1980?s the
Baron sold the resort to a California partnership that changed the name to “The
Lakes at Eagle Wing” and tried to change the concept of Trout Haven. They were
unsuccessful, the property foreclosed and the Baron got the property back in
1990.PK Enterprise purchased the property from the Baron in 1991. We went back
to the Trout Haven Club model putting the resort on a solid foundation to build
on the future. Bringing us to where we are today. In 1997 the Lost Dutchman
event pavilion was built to entertain Colorado outdoor weddings and events. It
is a wonderful amenity to be added to the resort offerings. The general public
can rent the pavilion and enjoy some of the beauty that the resort has to
offer. In the past only the private members enjoyed the beauty of the resort. In
2008 the conference center was added to the resort. It doubles as our office
and as an amenity for others to rent.
